Quarter Deck Residence

Designed for modern family living, the Quarterdeck Residence brings together natural materials, thoughtful planting, and practical outdoor spaces that feel connected to the architecture. Built in collaboration with GTS Constructions, Bourne Blue Architects, and Liminal Landscape Design, every element was carefully considered to create a landscape that is both beautiful and effortless to live in.

Before construction, the site presented the opportunity to transform a large, highly exposed corner block into a landscape that complemented the home's striking architecture while remaining practical for everyday family life. With extensive street frontage and multiple outdoor living areas, every space required careful planning to balance privacy, functionality, and long-term durability.

The completed landscape creates a seamless connection between the home and its surroundings. Natural sandstone, decomposed granite pathways, native planting, and generous lawn areas soften the strong architectural forms while creating spaces that are welcoming, functional, and easy to maintain. Thoughtfully positioned planting provides privacy without closing in the property, while the outdoor entertaining and pool areas flow naturally into the surrounding gardens, creating an outdoor environment designed to be enjoyed every day.

Quarter Deck Story

The Quarterdeck Residence was designed around one simple idea: creating an outdoor space that grows with the family.

Located on a prominent corner block in Merewether Heights, the landscape needed to enhance the home's architectural presence while introducing warmth, privacy, and usability.

Natural materials were selected to complement the contemporary design, with sandstone boulders, sandstone steppers, decomposed granite pathways, and a predominantly native planting palette establishing a timeless character throughout the property.

Large lawn areas provide space for children to play, while carefully layered planting and screening soften views from neighbouring properties without compromising the open feel of the landscape.

Every garden, pathway, and outdoor space was planned to feel connected, resulting in a landscape that is calm, practical, and built for everyday living.

The finished project reflects the collaborative vision between the client, architect, builder, and landscape team, delivering an outdoor environment that feels as considered and refined as the home itself.
